Development of audiences in the cultural sphere

Art managers of Kazakhstan had a unique opportunity to receive training in the development of audiences in the cultural sphere.

Public Fund Cultural Dialogue with the official partnership of the Goethe-Institut Almaty and the support of the UN Development Program in Kazakhstan organized a seminar-training “Strategic management and Audience Development  in the cultural and creative projects” for of Kazakhstani art managers.

November 7th-8th2016, art managers be trained by specially invited in Almaty trainer and facilitator with 20 years of experience, Carolyn Savchuk (Germany). Mrs. Savchuk has the appropriate education in cultural management at the University of Passau, and also has a coaching diploma in communications of one of the leading universities in the world in the field of culture , Berlin’s Humboldt University.

The training seminar aims to teach domestic art managers principles of expanding audiences and attracting a new audience to cultural institutions. During the event the participants will discuss the following questions: why do some attending, others are not; what to do to expand the audience; how to educate your audience; what tools to bring; how actions within the audience development fit into the overall strategy of the culture organization.

As Mrs. Savchuknoted: ” Difficulty and challenge for me was to develop a training that would meet the needs of art markets, with completely different cultural areas: theatre, gallery, exhibition, museum, festival of arts and crafts, so it is both unique.”

Malika Koyanbaeva, coordinator for the Department of effective management and territorial development programs, UNDP noted the importance of training artisans from the rural areas. “For  craftswomen from regions one of the most difficult tasks is to promote their products to the public, meeting the demands of a modern audience. We are very pleased that our beneficiaries from Kyzylorda and Mangistau regions have the opportunity to learn from international experts, we hope that the gained knowledge will help on the one hand to preserve cultural development, and on the other to provide income to rural masters.”

According to Cultural Dialogue Public Fund’s director, Zhanna Mambetova, “the Task of our Foundation is to provide an opportunity for Kazakh art managers to learn and adopt the best foreign experience from the experts in this field. We are confident that the talents of our artistes, artists, writers, as well as the professionalism of our art-managers will contribute to the sustainable development of cultural industry of Kazakhstan”.
